Trusted Pharmacist Care for Common Skin Conditions
At Oberon Pharmacy, we're proud to participate in the NSW Pharmacy Trial for skin conditions, empowering you with convenient, expert-led care without needing a doctor's prescription. Since 19 July 2024, our pharmacists—who have completed specialized training and operate under clinical protocols—are authorised to assess and manage:
- Mild to moderate eczema (atopic dermatitis) (from 6 months to 65 years)
- Shingles (herpes zoster) (for individuals aged 18 years and older)
- School sores (impetigo) (from 12 months and older)
- Mild plaque psoriasis (acute flare-ups, 18 years and older)
What the Trial Means for You
- Script-free consultations: You can receive care and treatment without needing a GP prescription. The pharmacist consultation is free of charge, thanks to government funding—only the cost of medications applies.
- Focus on safety and protocols: Our pharmacists strictly follow NSW Health's clinical guidelines to ensure your care is safe, appropriate, and includes referrals when necessary.
Your Path to Relief at Oberon Pharmacy
- Come in or call ahead—find out if our pharmacists are available and trained for skin condition care.
- Consultation—your pharmacist will ask key questions (e.g., about symptoms, medical history, allergies, pregnancy/breastfeeding) to confirm eligibility.
- Diagnosis & treatment—if eligible, we provide advice and issue medication. If your condition is beyond scope, we’ll refer you to your GP or the emergency department for further care.
- Follow-up support—we’re here to answer your questions and monitor your progress.
